If I wanted to watch a bunch of Audis, Porsches, and Toyotas drive around, I'd go to a CPA convention.

Only because the Bruins aren't in it and I'm a spoiled, whiny Boston Sports fan.

Throwing in Volvo would just make it a bigger CPA convention.

Probably because I hate both teams and the team I hate most is going to win.

Mainly because there's a California team in it (Lord Stanley is turning over in his grave as we speak)

The Kings won 2 years ago! The Ducks won 10 years(ish) before that!
...for God's sake, Gretzky played for LA!

It's a damn travesty is what it is. I'm going to say it, but there should not be any hockey teams below the Mason-Dixon line.
How many people who watch the games in LA do you suppose actually know how to cinch up a pair of skates or put a backhander in the corner of the net?

Potentially very few. Probably some, due to pure population numbers, but your point is taken.
THAT SAID, as a hockey player (and fan) south of the Mason-Dixon line, I take exception.

I accept you!
As a hockey player myself I consider the game to be diluted to a point and I absolutely hate all the fanboys up in my area. I'm about 20 minutes outside of Milwaukee and I went to school with a ton of people from Chicago- during the 82 game regular season I hear about the Blackhawks maybe twice. As soon as they're in the playoffs I see stickers on cars, sweatshirts, facebook is blowing up, and people act like the world is coming to an end when they lose. The league has become so different from 15 years ago. Nobody wants to watch a 0-1 battle where you have 2 guys on either end of the rink standing on their heads. Now you have little guys like St Louis being protected and players like Eric Lindros will never see the light of day in this league because it's no longer built for them. I fear the day when the league becomes a joke like the NBA has

YOU GOTTA LOVE MARTY. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO LOVE MARTY.
I hear you, though. The bandwagoning is...discouraging, but I'm of the opinion that hockey rocks, and all that people need to love it is to understand it. If that understanding is nurtured and grown via bandwagon binge-watching in the playoffs, I'm okay with it.
